Last week Warren County High School's Generation Z - Aspiring Farmers group joined New Generation Leaders of Warren County to visit NC A&T's Small Farms Field Day. The groups joined forces to create a van full of informed students enthusiastic about farming, animals, and horticulture. Participants were able to take part in hands-on demonstrations, including the following topics:
• Organic pesticides
• Cucumber grafting
• Personal protective equipment for noise and respiratory hazards
• Crops for biofuel
• Sheep and goat forages
• Pastured pork
• Growing plants in test tubes
Two of our students are featured in this article about the Field Day: http://www.ncat.edu/news/2013/06/small-farms.html. We had a fun and informative trip, and hope to return next year!
