This week, the Garden Club and our Math Teacher Ms. O'Meara at Warren County High School combined efforts to build a coordinate plane doubling as a garden bed.

On Wednesday, students practiced plotting points to form polygons on the bed, using plants started by the class on a service day in the garden.

Follow the evolution of the bed below! The students loved being able to practice their skills in a hands-on manner.

Lister Mosley of WCHS Garden Club volunteers after school to help build the coordinate plane garden's x-axis and y-axis.

1st period identifies the 4 coordinates of their polygon. They planted herbs, a tomato, and some flowers to mark the spot.

After marking their coordinates, students placed ribbon around their plants to mark the perimeter of their polygon.

Students check with their teacher to ensure their coordinates are plotted properly. Some groups learned the importance of accuracy as they had to replant to ensure the ribbon formed the proper polygon.

1st period finishes their graph for the day as the second quadrant group measures the perimeter of their rhombus. Great job Ms. O'Meara's classes for planting our garden while practicing their math skills!
